Suppose Before Supposing

Suppose before supposing was a pose,
not quite a figure, fleeting, flickering,
not for long,  but long enough to repeat
almost to the edge of apprehension

then gone, as if it never was, and yet
leaving behind the tease of a trace of…
something as yet, if ever, not of quite shape…
this the beckoning of what’s beginning

not yet thought, not yet feeling, earlier,
incomplete, fragments, figments competing
in ongoing upheaval living flux
this before before in alone of one

only by stutter, by hesitate, can I
who wasn’t quite, suggest and so remember
