Settling Into Summer
The woods are settling into summer green flowering mostly done, less bright birdsong and the canopy of contemplation admits light patches to cut sharp shadows the woods are enchanting in the midst of my disenchantment, sorrows past and to come, bid me find a new kind of song to sing, one that holds poverty of letting go and celebrates without embarrassment its riches in sound that's tender and true, softly announces a lifetime's yearning, a lifetime of learning often unsought green serene are the woods, a marvel so, that lies nearer now than seeking to know
